McCall Senior Center
The McCall Senior Center provides a place for seniors to enjoy nutrition, health, social and educational programs and a friendly atmosphere.
Our center is active in community affairs and provides quality services and programs through nutrition, Meals on Wheels, information on social and educational programs and recreational activities supporting senior’s independence and encouraging their continued involvement within our community. The center welcomes those persons who are not yet considered “seniors”, but individuals who add to our programs with new vigor and ideas. We provide hot meals twice a week to our members and freshly made meals for delivery through our Meals on Wheels program.
We are the only Senior Center in the town of McCall and we are the community disaster center due to our building size and availability of our kitchen.
Receiving a good meal at the Senior Center provides a way for seniors to enjoy the companionship of their peers and to enrich their health with a nutritionally balanced, well prepared meal. During the summer our attendance for evening meals averages around 60, while in winter months the average attendance is 25-30, as snowbirds leave for warmer temperatures.
Meals on Wheels (“MOW”) is a community service-based program that delivers hot, nutritious meals to the homes of the elderly with the help of willing and dedicated volunteers from the community. The MOW programs help elderly or disabled individuals who are unable to prepare their own meals to stay connected to their communities, to remain healthy and to live independently in their homes for as long as possible. The MOW program has been organized in McCall for over 12 years. With humble beginnings in the Senior Center kitchen, the service has grown to deliver over 1200 meals every year.
The McCall Senior Center provides a great atmosphere for people to enjoy each other’s company and it provides many educational presentations and opportunities. Once a month we hold an Ear Clinic and twice a month a Foot Clinic. We have a food pantry for those in need and plenty of space for games and relaxation. Other activities we host include: live music for dinners, a Winter Carnival Pancake Breakfast and Senior Lunch, Spring Yard Sale and a Christmas Bazaar.
Tuesday and Thursday: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, congregate dinner is served at 5:30 pm
Wednesday: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Established in August 1973, the Valley County Museum Complex at Roseberry Idaho is governed by the Long Valley Preservation Society (LVPS). As the largest presentation of Finnish Culture in the Western United States, Roseberry is also a National and International draw for foreign visitors. Roseberry is unique because the museum is currently comprised of twenty-two buildings, many housing historical displays, and providing visitors with a year-round view of the history of Long Valley. The Museum is operated seasonally. Hours are: May – Sunday 1-5; June/July/August – Friday, Saturday, Sunday 1-5; September – Sunday 1-5. Visitors to the town site are welcome to view buildings year-round. The summer season provides rustic grassy areas for picnics.

Brundage Mountain Resort has a special place in the hearts of Idaho snow lovers. Snow conditions are consistently outstanding, which is why Brundage Mountain has earned the reputation for the Best Snow in Idaho™. It’s no secret that the snow is deep and the lift lines are usually short. The mountain gets frequent storms, so skiers and boarders can cruise on freshly groomed runs or search for powder stashes in the trees and bowls.
For beginners, Brundage is one of the best mountains in Idaho to learn on—the drive-up daycare and Kid’s Center makes it easy to get the whole family where they need to go. The Easy Street double chair and Bear Chair triple provide easy access to beginner and advanced beginner terrain close to the Kid’s Center.
A majority of the luxuriously wide groomed runs are rated for intermediates, but experts who like to head off-trail have endless options. Shoot over to the north side of the mountain to Hidden Valley (follow the expert only signs) and go big. Real powder hounds will want to try the backcountry snow-cat program which operates on 18,000 acres of Payette National Forest.
Visit Brundage and you’ll pick up on that authentic Idaho feeling. Just eight miles away, the town of McCall will impress you with its friendly, low-key vibe.
Brundage Mountain has recently acquired ownership of 488 acres at the base area, and future plans include brand-new base area facilities and ski-in, ski-out lodging.
With the best snow in Idaho, a family atmosphere, affordable prices, friendly people, and an uncrowded powder experience, Brundage is a true snowrider’s mountain, poised to become a favorite destination resort.

The McCall Winter Sports Club is a non-profit organization for aspiring athletes. We strive to promote an environment of individual skill advancement, healthy competition, character development, sportsmanship, and fun for all club skiers.
In July of 2004, a citizens group formed the Valley County Pathways Committee. For many years, people from different areas in Long Valley have thought about the potential of developing a valley-wide pathway system that could be used for walking, biking, running, roller-blading, horseback riding, commuting, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Most of this effort was focused in McCall. The Valley County Pathways Committee created an organization that would make a pathways system possible throughout the Long Valley region.
VC Pathways has a county-approved pathways master plan that envisions more than 100 miles of pedestrian pathways between McCall and Cascade, including the prospect of revitalizing an old railroad right of way that runs the length of Long Valley, and building trails around Payette Lake and Lake Cascade.
Why is it important for Valley County to develop a valley-wide pathway system?
Research and experience related to existing pedestrian pathway and greenway systems across the United States indicate that pathways create multiple public benefits:
-Create new opportunities for recreation and for people to commute to work or shopping areas without using fossil fuels.
-Boost local economies.
-Provide transportation links to culturally or historically valuable areas.
-Tie together parks, schools, waterways and communities.
-Create opportunities for people to improve physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
-Enhance a community’s quality of life.
-Preserve open space corridors.
The 2000 Leisure Travel and Recreation Study, performed for the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, shows that hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and cross-country skiing are among the most important recreation pursuits by residents and non-residents. The 2002 Idaho Outdoor Recreation Survey shows that Idaho residents enjoy hiking and biking more than any other recreation activities. Clearly, there is strong public demand from residents and non-residents for the type of recreation opportunities that will be accessible to the public via the Valley County Pathways System.

City of Cascade- Your Destination for FUN!
Cascade is situated well within the boundaries of the great mountainous, alpine-forested region that stretches from the upper boundaries of the Great Basin nearly to the Arctic Circle. With an average of slightly more than two persons per square mile, it is easy to see that there are vast, wide-open spaces to enjoy the activities the area has to offer. The economy of the Lake Cascade Recreation Area has been recognized as a superb location for recreation, sports and simply “getting away from it all.” Employment opportunities in the area are therefore varied and run the gamut from ranching, logging and National Forest positions to many choices in health care, recreation and visitor services, retail and other small business opportunities.
Valley County is a rural county located in west central Idaho in the United States. Established in 1917, it was named after the Long Valley of the North Fork of the Payette River, which extends over 30 miles from Payette Lake at McCall south to Cascade to Round Valley. The population was 9,862 at the 2010 census. The county seat is Cascade, and the largest city is McCall.

id Theater is a development only theater company. We believe that in order to have great theater we have to start with great plays, and in order to have great plays we must nurture talented writers. Working chiefly in McCall, Idaho and New York City, id provides a safe place for artists (professional, emerging, amateur & student) to develop work, take risks and introduce audiences to adventurous new works that reflect, challenge and celebrate them.
This development happens through four distinct programs:
• Seven Devils Playwrights Conference an annual two-week Conference bringing playwrights & theater artists from around the country to McCall, Idaho for 2 weeks of rehearsals, readings and workshops of new work, including plays by area high school students.
• NYC Sit-In! A monthly reading series that offers artists who have worked with us a venue to hear re-writes, polish up old plays or hear new works for the very first time at the Back Room at Jimmy’s No. 43 in New York City.
• Bridgeworks supports writers as they bridge the gap from development to production.
• id-iots at Play are writer’s groups composed of playwrights who gather every two weeks to share and read new work.
Since 2001, id has developed more than 145 new plays by Pulitzer Prize-winners, emerging writers, high school students and everything in between. Plays developed through id have gone on to full production at such venues as The Humana Festival/Actors Theater of Louisville, Roundabout Theatre, Denver Theater Center, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Barrington Stage Company, Chicago’s Gift Theater, Kitchen Theater, Montana Rep and Boise Contemporary Theater, among many others.

Guests can expect clean accommodations and delicious food service; residing guests should expect self-check-in and overall self-reliance. Contact us today to see if we have space for your group.
Long Valley Finnish Ladies Aid
The Finnish Ladies Aid is at a crucial point in the organization’s lifespan. To remain viable, productive and true to the organization’s mission and bylaws, a new generation of women is needed. You do not have to be a descendant from the original Finn settlers, or even Finnish. We are in need of women with love of God, family and community who have “sisu” (a Finnish word for strength of will, determination and undaunted courage), to preserve the heritage of Long Valley to step forward and join. Membership is voluntary and there are no membership dues or fees. True to the history, Ladies are asked to provide handicrafts, baked goods and other items able to be auctioned off at the annual Auction, which has been held every year since 1920.
The Finnish Ladies Aid Society was initially organized over 100 years ago to raise funds to build and support a Finnish community church, which is still located on Farm to Market and Finn Church roads, just south of McCall. Today, the Finnish Ladies Aid is a not for profit organization committed to preserving the Finnish history and culture in Long Valley as well as providing philanthropic support throughout the Long Valley area.
The group typically meets on the 4rd Saturday of the month with a few exceptions. Meeting locations vary, rotating monthly, and typically take place in the home of an area member. In the past, meetings were preceded by extravagant luncheons prepared by the hostess. In recent years, this has been reined in to dessert and of course, coffee.
If you are interested in joining Finnish Ladies Aid or would like to make a handicraft or monetary donation to the organization, please contact Jennifer Koskella at email@example.com

With 2.3 million acres of public land, our deep canyons to crisp alpine lakes make up the centerpiece of outdoor recreation in Idaho’s Heartland. This spectacular land is bordered by two of the deepest canyons in North America: the Salmon River Canyon to the north, and Hells Canyon to the west. To the east lies the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, one of the largest congressionally-designated wilderness areas in the lower 48. Connected with other public lands, the forest is part of an expansive and uninterrupted landscape that provides superb habitat for an exceptional array of big game, upland birds, and other wildlife. The forest is nationally recognized for dramatic landscapes, from craggy mountain peaks and shimmering lakes to plummeting river canyons. Vast expanses of back country provide solitude, although facilities and amenities are nearby. Come and visit your national forest!
