Hit the Links Golf Getaway

You don’t have to be an avid golfer to enjoy a round in McCall, but for those looking for a serious golf getaway, we have just the ticket.

Day 1

Start your golf adventure off with a stunning 9 holes at Cascade Golf Course. Take in the picturesque view of Lake Cascade and the snow-capped mountains beyond from every hole. There is a challenge on every hole with sloping fairways and greens that are difficult to read. Blind shots off the tee box to the fairways and tee shots over the water will challenge even the low handicap golfer.

After your round, head to McCall and check in at the Shore Lodge. This stunning resort set on the shores of Payette Lake offers a mountain sanctuary with luxuriously appointed guest rooms. Stop in for a light dinner and a drink at the Narrows Grill where you can catch a baseball game on television or the sunset from the panoramic windows.

Day 2

As a guest of Shore Lodge you have exclusive access to play Whitetail Club’s award winning course, which offers 18 holes and 7,200 yards of unspoiled natural splendor. Every hole is both challenging and scenic, but none as much as the signature 18th. This dogleg par 4 serves up a dramatic finish featuring a tee shot over a pond, a stream framing the right side of the hole, and a green with plenty of protection.

Following a morning round, step into The Cove to get rejuvenated. Try the “Skipping Stones” massage that uses smooth, heated stones warmed in oil and perfect for melting tension away or simply spend an hour (or two) in the immersion pools. These saltwater pools offer both an indoor and outdoor setting where lounging is the only requirement.

Day 3

Wake up refreshed and ready for adventure. Before hitting the links at Jug Mountain Ranch, head to the Clubhouse Restaurant for a pre-round lunch. Nestled at the base of Jughandle Mountain, enjoy the spectacular views from the patio, including a great view of the first tee. While most courses feature a run-of-the-mill “warm up” hole as the opener, Jug Mountain gets right down to business with an exhilarating severe downhill tee shot from the highest point on the course to a fairway where a river crosses near the landing zone. Panoramic views are offered from the box and the river that crosses the fairway cuts up and lurks next to the left side of the green as well. It is a perfect way to start a round that will feature plenty of elevation change and a solid challenge.

Pair your round at Jug Mountain Ranch with a night at Hotel McCall to take advantage of great Stay and Play rates. Hotel McCall is a 19 room bed and breakfast style hotel featuring both standard guest rooms and condominiums right in the heart of downtown McCall. Walk downstairs for dinner at Rupert’s where you can enjoy the talents of James Beard nominated Chef Gary Kucy.

Day 4

Start your morning off right by grabbing a pastry and coffee from Mountain Java, just a short stroll from the Hotel along the waterfront. Your destination for the day is McCall Golf Course. This 27 hole facility is comprised of three beautiful 9-hole courses, Aspen, Birch, and Cedar. Play one or play them all, just keep an eye out for the resident whitetail deer that frequent the course! Remember to present your lodging receipt from any McCall hotel for a discount on green fees!

Day 5

Located at the 45th parallel in New Meadows, this 6,696 yard course offers a thrilling round of golf. With par 4s and 5s dominating this course, we love hole 13 for its short and sweet challenge. Precision is the name of the game with a tee shot over natural wetlands. Your reward? Expansive views of the golf course and mountains beyond. You may even catch a glimpse of Brundage Mountain in the distance.

End the day with some of the best BBQ in Idaho. Since 2013, owner Shannon Fairchild and her crew have been cooking up “rustic comfort food” with slow smoked BBQ to rival any in the region. No pre-packaged sauces or dressings at the Intersection…they make everything in house from scratch. We recommend ordering Shannon’s signature pastrami, but do it quick! This local favorite, brined and cured for a month before serving, tends to sell out quickly. Intersection BBQ’s brisket is also a hot item on the menu and their burger meat is locally sourced from Double R Ranch.
